Scott Anderson: I have the regular seal pup and a Work Sharp Knife and Tool sharpener. Do
you think it would be wise to re profile to a convex edge and profile the
reverse side of the clip point? Just looking for advice before I go for it.
The knife is not really my outdoor knife more of a knife I would use in
397pollo: you could use a magnet to check if its full tang
Tyler Johnson: out of all the videos of yours ive watched, this is the worst.you dont seem
to know your facts.the reason you payed $140 is because its in tiger stripe
camo,if you get it in plain/black tini coating its only about $70.this
knife does come in a straight edge version, not that difficult to
find(GOOGLE).the so called jimping on the spine is called spine rasping, its
there to help make notches.the finger groove is small so u get more blade
to use. hope u do a redue of this vid so ppl get the right info
Lucian k: What do you recommend as a similar size/weight/price alternative for the
sog as a bush/survival knife? Thx!
EnduringEagle: The Government Issue knife is the US Navy MK3 MOD 0 diving/survival knife
supplied by Ontario Knife Company of New York..
Skills2Survive: I ended up selling my Seal Pup. It was a good knife, but as you said its
not a good survival knife.
TheYankeeGI: The "serrations" on the back is a rough rasp mainly for notching and rough
hinckleypoland: Yep.. not a fan but it might fit somebody else's purpose.
prodieus: Hey Adam thanks for the awesome video. They sell this knife at Canadian
tire for $50 Canadian, and I have heard this knife was pretty popular and
was thinking of buying it and trying out out.I searched your YouTube videos
to see if you did a review on the knife because I respect what you have to
say about the gear you test.I just want to say thanks for saving me a bit
of money on this one
Barracuda487: This knife would be great if it didnt have that darn zytel handel. I wish
the handel was made of rubberor something.
EnduringEagle: @adawg9842 The Government Issue knife is the US Navy MK3 MOD
diving/survival knife supplied by Ontario Knife Company of New York.
thundercrackle: would you recomend the bear grylls ultimate knife or this for camping /
cutting/ use in shelter making ??
Scott P: I put a piece of innertube around the handle on mine (origonal Pup not the
elite) this has made a big difference on vibrations. Mine is actually
mounted on my GHB your right it's not a survival blade it's more of a
utility/fighter. My main survival blade is actually a RAT Izula anything
else I have around is just icing on the cake...
zujostix: Not sure if anyone said this before but the Seal Pup (version before the
elite) is easily found without the serrations, has a bigger "choil" (and
was criticized for that by another big youtuber) and I think it comes with
the kydex sheath by default (not sure on that though)
paulie 4x: I beg the difference, I use mine for bushcrafting, because I use a multiple
knife system, a small camp knife, a larger knife for heavier work e.i.
batoning and a chopper usually an axe, I don't consider a folding saw a
knife, and you will find one on my pack.. The S.P.E. ( mine is a plain edge
), and its concave grind, I find it sufficient for minor carving and most
all camp duty. I do enjoy your videos Adam.
EnduringEagle: @555Nato To each his own. In a survival mode I would choose the BK2 for no
other reason than it has more capability and can take more abuse which will
happen in a survival situation. The Seal Team Pup is AUS8a steel and the
BK2 is 1095 CroVan which is MUCH better.
Equip 2 Endure LLC: @Luccian22 , the SOG North West Ranger. Adam
darkinertia2: nice vid, i kinda figured it wasnt a bushcrafting sort of knife even tho
any knife technically is a good knife in a survival situation, it just
helps if it serves you....but you should totally check out the ultima for a
good tactical fighter that actually is built extremely well, and i think,
more for bushcrafting rather than a fighter...i have to 7 in version they
come in the 5 in too and i LOVE the knife. once you feel that contoured
handle youll fall in love too :P
satansmusic2009: look through the lanyard hold in the end of the hndle and you can see its
Charlie Carr: actually its more of a dive knife/cobat knife. you know seal as in navy seal
Equip 2 Endure LLC: Yeah, there is a separate test video. Assumptions indeed.
jonny rock: 4.75" seems too small for a tactical blade.
EnduringEagle: This knife was designed for field use for the Navy Seals. Its intention was
strictly for combat operations not for survival purposes. Same as a bayonet
is a terrible survival knife. You would be better off with a BK2. FYI. The
Seals don't use this knife anymore.
RatifiedCow: the ''sawback'' feature if for notching--which it does VERY well...I used
for tent stakes.
TheDishD: great reveiw/vid, keeping it real with your veiw on the blade, thank you
and take care.
mart oosterwoud: you should review the sog force with a fine edge it is the bushcraft
version of this knife to me that knife is the best highly recommend it
Mr. Holzhauser: Broke my Seal Pup Elite last weekend while camping; only the third time I
have taken it into the field. The blade snapped clean about an inch above
then handle while I was cutting some bark off a log. Sent it in to SOG
warranty dept. for a hardness test. Gonna look into the NW Ranger as a
potential replacement. Good review
partyof4: the "serrations" on the back are used for trapping i think, atleast thats
what i use it for to make quarter inch square "holes"
aschiron: too many want to chop/split/cross cut/hammer/dig etc. with a knife. that
is what axes, bow saws, hammers and shovels are for. knives are for cutting
cordage/gutting/skinning/slicing meat/precision carving/LAST ditch defense.
i.e. light work. carry a mid size axe and a bow saw of at least 24".
Equip 2 Endure LLC: Thanks for watching and commenting
stonybrokebushcraf: the stripping looks wicked .
poormanprepper: the tang thins out to a half inch or so and extends to the end oh the
handle. very sturdy and lite.
kaziklu79: I have the Navy Seal 2000 which is a great knife with 2 major issues (at
least for me) - the handle is uncomfortable and a big part of the blade is
lost for finger groove instead of edge. The little brother - Seal Pup Elite
is not interesting, but i think the biggest - TigerShark was awesome and
can't understand why SOG changed its design.
Equip 2 Endure LLC: @BlackMesaSecurity , thanks.
Soldier92: Hey have you taken a look at the SOG Force? There are no reviews and I'm
wondering if it's better than the NW Ranger.
kudosonthedeathray: It's a full tang
EnduringEagle: @555Nato My knives are pretty sharp from the tip to the hilt which is how I
keep them. To each is his own. Have a good weekend.
Dylan Porter: My Christmas gift
pieordie12: I think you hit it on the head the first time.. Its a combat knife.. The
ridges on the back are designed to help pierce armor without getting stuck.
Most SOG products are designed as weapons primarily. Your also right..
While we all may like to pretend our lives are action movies realistically
the average person would be better off with a more versatile knife. (That
is unless you're preparing for the ZOMBIES!!!)
Evan Gracie: @20GATE91 Oh, i know. I am greatly anticipating the arrival of my knife. It
is still good to hear the pros, and the cons in this case. Thanks for
looking out for me. I actually plan on doing reviews later on a few
different knives, so everyone can hear an extra opinion.
Amelia Cisneros: the knife is fool tang
JohnReviewer112: good review but as you said its not a outdoors knife its mainly for
MrDan3134: you do knife reviews and don't know where to buy them? all manufacturers
list high prices to drive sales for there supplied retailers. how can you
review/recommend knives and not know this? you couldn't find a different
model? do you only have access to one web site? there are pictures of the
full tang online. this review was just horribly un informed. did you even
try out the knife? have you done any bushcraft with it? because it sounds
like this whole video was one big (incorrect ) assumption
RatifiedCow: I ordered this exact knife... i held one and loved it. Although, i do agree
that it would be awesome if they offered a version like the old seal pup
with their choil.
TheBlackeagleairsoft: is it a good chooper
PMChampagne8: It seemed like you were trying to give as much info as possible but failed
because your info was false.
TheGeminiLounge: Your attitudude is negative towards this knife. Even when saying it's good
in certain areas..
