lynn11204: Thanks for this, I'm currently trying to fix my son's Xbox, his disc tray is stuck open because he accidentally bumped it, it wont budge and one side of the tray is loose, i assumed it was off track,,, but i dont know
Joe Ortiz: Can you post a video how to use the hair rubber band. Thnx
Malcolm Varley: I've got a problem with it when you turn it of it stays open But when I press the open button it tries to close a little bit then it opens again
Neau Wulf: Replace the rubber band with a small black hair rubber band you buy from the hair store or hair section from Walmart. The rubber band comes in a packi. You wilkl one need one. The rubber band is tight enough to allow the wheel to route as it should. Don't waste your time buying the rubber band from Microsoft or ebay. I've been repairing that problem using the method i just said for years. Over 200 xbox repaired and no compliant.
Andrey Bates: Hey thx it worked for me
Michael Garcia: My disk try won't close anymore light keeps flashing won't read nothing any solution
Travis Hale: Computer and video game manufacturers are just like auto makers. They could make a product that lasts for years without much maintenance. Instead they design things to fail and error, so you have to buy another one or spend money on parts. Most people who experience problems with their car will just buy a new one if the problems persist. This is what the manufacturer wants. 360's are so prone to freaking up. I know Microsoft is smart enough to design and build something that is more reliable. But that wouldn't be good for profits.
Jamie Beck: Thanks for the video. Gave me enough info to fix my son's xbox.
Luuk de Boer: the rubber band on the inside is the problem because it slides over the wheel because its dirty if you clean the rubber band it works fine and has enough power to pull the reader down. to clean it you won't even have to open it :D
xpro gamer: Thiese crapty consoles their trays like this is why i like ps3 more than xbox and in fact my xbox has the same problem as this one
MartyBoyOnline: Cheers man had this problem for ages ! And just fixed 2 xboxes thankyou man thumbs up
ray cornelius: Im only 12 and i never met my dad and my mom is a drug addict and i dont know how to take it apart :(
joscbr: Another thing to check is the bottom of the disc tray. I just fixed one where a tab on the bottom had bent back. Straightened the tab and added some super glue to it. Now the tray shuts as it should.
ballest one 13: close it
ballest one 13: my xbox tray is jammed a little out of place and i cant open or lose it
Mike Kwiatkowski: Mine just started not closing but it opens up so fast hopefully this works
Luke Brown: Cheers man
lborrink: Hey, I have an original xbox that has the same problem, and I'm curious if your trick will work.
xX8raven8Xx: I hope it works. I may have a dinosaur Xbox 360 but I don't have the money to get a new one
Nepin Rith: Your welcome, glad I was able to help. I actually covered this in a video I put up here on youtube. I also showed where the dvd to tension clip goes. couldn't find a single video on it. had to find a random forum to help me find where that piece went. was simple lol. Just never take any ones advice on here to hit the xbox, it will loosen up up your laser eye, that can also make you have an open tray error because it can't read the disk until you tighten it the proper way.
